+<para>The <filename>/etc/xdg/user-dirs.conf</filename> file is a
+text file that controls the behavior of the xdg-user-dirs-update
+command. Users can have their own
+<filename>~/.config/user-dirs.conf</filename> file, which overrides
+the system-wide configuration.</para>
