1 行目は 8 桁にそろえた形式のバージョン番号であり、旧形式のアーカイブはすべて B<0.939000> である。
2 行目はひとつ目の gzip 圧縮 tar ファイルの大きさを意味する (0 から始まらない) 十進数の数値文字列である。
それぞれの行の終わりには改行文字がひとつ置かれる。

In some very old archives, the files in the control tarfile may optionally be in a B<DEBIAN> subdirectory. In that case, the B<DEBIAN> subdirectory will be in the control tarfile too, and the control tarfile will have only files in that directory.
